Σαν σήμερα…10 Ιουλίου

  Τι μπορείς να γράψεις για τον αγαπημένο σου τραγουδιστή-στιχουργό όλων των εποχών? Για αυτόν που με τη φωνή του σε έκανε να δεθείς με την heavy μουσική και σου έμαθε να ακούς τους δίσκους διαβάζοντας πάντα τους στίχους από τα βιβλιαράκια των cd’s. Αυτού που με τη χρήση των metal horns ''ένωσε'' εκατομμύρια οπαδών? Τι σημασία έχει να αραδιάσεις άψυχες ημερομηνίες και γεγονότα για τη ζωή του ανθρώπου που με κάθε του ερμηνεία σε πλημμύριζε με συναισθήματα?
  Δυστυχώς το ''Σαν σήμερα'' μας αναγκάζει να πούμε ότι ο Ronnie James Dio γεννήθηκε στις 10 Ιουλίου 1942 στο Portsmouth των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών από Ιταλούς γονείς. Γεννημένος ως Ronald James Padavona, υιοθετεί το όνομα Dio εμπνευσμένος από τον μαφιόζο Johnny Dio.

  Μετά από συμμετοχές σε διάφορες μπάντες καταλήγει το 1969 στους Elf με τους οποίους θα ανοίξουν κάποιες συναυλίες για τους Deep Purple εντυπωσιάζοντας τον Ritchie Blackmore. Έτσι όταν ο τελευταίος θα φύγει από τους Purple για να σχηματίσει το 1975 τους Rainbow, θα πάρει μαζί του τον Dio. Μαζί τους θα κυκλοφορήσει 3 studio albums και ένα live πριν τους εγκαταλείψει το 1979 εξαιτίας της διάθεσης του Blackmore για πιο εμπορικές αναζητήσεις. Ένα χρόνο αργότερα θα γίνει μέρος της μεγαλύτερης μεταγραφής στην ιστορία του heavy metal όταν αντικαθιστά τον Ozzy Osbourne στους Black Sabbath. Το αποτέλεσμα? Δυο δίσκοι-ογκόλιθοι: ‘’Heaven And Hell’’(1980) και ‘’Mob Rules’’(1981). Το 1982, και χωρίς κανείς να το περιμένει, οι Sabbath διώχνουν τον Dio όταν τον κατηγορούν ότι ανέβαζε κρυφά τα κανάλια της φωνής του κατά τη μίξη του ‘’Live Evil’’ album.

  Έχοντας ήδη κερδίσει φήμη και εμπειρίες από τους Rainbow και τους Black Sabbath, σχηματίζει μέσα στην ίδια χρονιά την προσωπική του μπάντα, τους Dio. Ένα χρόνο μετά κυκλοφορεί το ντεμπούτο τους ‘’Holy Diver’’ και από εκεί και έπειτα όλα είναι ιστορία. 10 studio albums, 4 live, το project Hear n’ Aid του 1985 με σκοπό τη συγκέντρωση χρημάτων για την Αφρική, σύντομη επιστροφή στους Black Sabbath το 1992 για το ‘’Dehumanizer’’. Το 2006 συνεργάζεται ξανά με τους Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler και Vinnie Appice κάτω από το όνομα Heaven & Hell (τι κάνει νιάου νιάου?) και κυκλοφορούν το ‘’The Devil You Know’’(2009).

  Τον Νοέμβρη του 2009 τα πρώτα άσχημα μαντάτα βλέπουν το φως της δημοσιότητας δια στόματος της συζύγου-μάνατζερ του: Ο Dio διαγνώστηκε με καρκίνο στο στομάχι. Στις 16 Μαΐου 2010 έρχεται το αναπόφευκτο. Ο Dio έχοντας δίπλα του φίλους και συγγενείς, φεύγει ακριβώς όπως του άξιζε να φύγει: περιτριγυρισμένος από αγάπη.

  Ευτυχώς δεν χρειάζεται παρά μόνο μια λέξη για να πεις ποιους rock-metal τραγουδιστές επηρέασε: ΟΛΟΥΣ! Άκουσε διάολε το τέλος του ‘’Stargazer’’ και αν δεν νοιώσεις την παραμικρή ανατριχίλα, τότε καλύτερα να πάψεις να ασχολείσαι με αυτή τη μουσική. Και ξέρεις κάτι? Είμαστε καλύτερα χωρίς εσένα.
